This summer, Jason will extend his education and further his farrier knowledge by attending the E.L.P.O. Farrier School, where he plans to learn about equine lameness prevention.

Meet Jason Simmons

In his young yet impactful career within the Equine and Agriculture industry, Jason has positioned himself for success. Graduating with honors from Lamar Community College, he earned a degree in Agriculture Business Management and is currently pursuing further education. Among the courses he excelled in are Artificial Insemination, Live Animal and Carcass Evaluation, Basic Agricultural Mechanic Skills, Feeds and Feeding, Introduction to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Welding Practices and Procedures, just to name a few.

He successfully completed a course Artificial Insemination Management provided by Schlening Genetics. This specialized training has equipped him with valuable knowledge and practical skills in managing bovine reproductive processes. By investing in this education, Jason demonstrates his dedication to enhancing his expertise in animal breeding and reproductive health. This certification strengthens his capabilities in effectively managing breeding programs and contributes to the overall success and quality of his future agricultural operations.

Jason’s dedication extends beyond the classroom; he has interned at a prominent horse and cattle ranch, gaining invaluable firsthand experience in daily operations. Additionally, he has interned with a reputable farrier, with plans to attend farrier school to further his expertise in this field.

Since the age of 9, Jason has been immersed in horse riding and competitive events, earning accolades and prizes in the National Cutting Horse Association. He’s competed as a team roper for the Lamar Community College Rodeo Team and intended his education to post-graduation. Not content with merely competing, Jason also trains his own horses for various disciplines including cutting, roping, and other ranch-related events. His vision for the future revolves around ranching, where he aims to raise cattle and continue training horses, solidifying his place in the industry.
